Roviroli S.L. is working on the CORIANCOOP Operational Group project together with the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia (FCAC) as the group coordinator, and the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) acting as the research center.
This project originates from the arable and forage crop cooperatives of the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia (FCAC) to identify viable crop rotation alternatives that can simultaneously improve producers’ profit margins. The main objective of the project is to determine the adaptation of coriander cultivation for vegetable oil production in the main cereal-growing areas of Catalonia.
The specific objectives of the project are:
-
Determine the productivity and grain quality of coriander cultivation under the conditions of cereal farms in Catalonia.
-
Adapt and improve agronomic practices to enable coriander cultivation, particularly sowing dates and weed control.
-
Assess the profitability of coriander for vegetable oil production and/or food use compared to winter cereals.
-
Optimize oil extraction techniques through cold mechanical pressing.
-
Analyze the characteristics of the oil and press cake obtained from coriander seeds.
-
Transfer the results to the production sector.
