Roviroli SL and Agrocomercial Tió SL, with the participation of the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), are working on the HOLL-HEAR Operational Group project.
The cultivated area of rapeseed varies depending on several factors, including the lack of sufficient soil moisture at the time of sowing, market prices, etc. Therefore, the introduction of high oleic and erucic rapeseed production, which can potentially provide greater added value, represents an opportunity for producers.
The main objective of the project is to introduce and promote the production and processing of high oleic (HOLL) and erucic (HEAR) rapeseed in Catalonia’s production areas. The introduction and potential of cultivating new types of rapeseeds (high oleic and erucic) will enhance cultivated biodiversity and the sustainability of farms, with a greater presence of an improving species such as this crop. Furthermore, it will create and consolidate new commercialization opportunities with higher added value.
